American specialty car manufacturer Saleen, Inc. has rolled out a new car. No, not another Mustang-based tune-up job, and not a parts-bin contraption such that we’ve seen from other small carmakers. No, the Saleen S7 is original, and at a whopping $375,000, astronomically expensive.
But how will the world take to another supercar? And an American one at that? Is our economy such that a mega-buck car with little name recognition will sell, especially given the established presence of Ferraris, Porsches and Lamborghinis (and soon, Mercedes) in the supercar arena? They like the Ferrari 360. In other news, we also like Dom Perignon, vacationing in Fiji and dating Heidi Klum (or to be fair, Brad Pitt). Indeed, coming up with “cons” for such a marvelous automobile like the 360 Modena and Spider is like criticizing Heidi for having a funny accent or Brad for dyeing his hair. This Ferrari set the bar for other “lower-end” supercars by providing blistering performance, ethereal steering, superior ride and tenacious grip.
