Ford is developing a new way of automotive propulsion, and its implications in the car industry are immense. The hybrid car hydraulic Ford could be the biggest innovation since the internal combustion engine, and Ford is at the forefront with its F-150 Hybrid. It says the system is simply great and could put Ford in a leadership position in the com pet market gone pickup.
The idea behind the current hybrid cars is well known, the main energy source comes from the gasoline car, which recharges the batteries that drive the car at low speeds. Hydraulic hybrid cars work the same way, only instead of batteries, excess energy is stored in hydraulic cylinders. That, in itself, is not revolutionary, except that the current batteries are not an efficient way to store energy, and hydraulic storage exceeds them by 300% efficiency. Even the new generation batteries lithium ion do not approach the efficiency of hydraulic energy storage.
The standard F-150 weighs 4800 pounds, which is 65% larger than the Toyota Prius, yet incredibly the Hydraulic F-150 with a continuously variable transmission reaches the Prius with a consumption of 60 miles per fuel alon in the city, which is an improvement of 400% compared to the version that operates on gasoline only.
The F-150 is a perfect car to house the hydraulic hybrid technology thanks to its height and its constitution, adding this system to smaller vehicles could be tricky, but with this new system, small cars could become obsolete.

Well, maybe they were TH!Nking ahead for they have again found a use for the exclamation mark and the light bulb is completely appropriate.
In this new community of modern rustic half million dollar cottages, it was obvious that this is where the clean and friendly TH!NK Neighbor was meant to be. The weekend was highlighted by a classic car and boat show, and the cart was able to roll smoothly among its displayed brethren, melding with the other onlookers without disruption, and providing my arthritic knees and ankles with welcome relief. Still, I could chat with the other attendees and owners without the perceived distancing of being in a steel vehicular cocoon, and it left nary a mark on the turf. Truly, this critter is friendly, fun and respectful of its environment. Read the rest of this entry »
In the fall of 1998, one of the flashy new designs causing a stir at the Paris International Auto Show was an eensy-weensy economy car from Ford.
Dubbed the Focus, this new vehicle was narrow like other subcompacts, which made it ideally suited for navigating narrow streets of such worldly cities as London, Cairo, Cape Town, Dubai, Rio, Sidney, Singapore and Bangkok, where Ford intended to market the car.
Yet it also had a relatively long wheelbase and the roof was hiked much higher than conventional subcompacts. Read the rest of this entry »
Even though Ford came into the compact SUV market late in the game, it has made up for lost time with the Escape.
